Dr. Badel's Services

Dr. Badel provides individual psychotherapy; specializing in psychodynamic therapy, psychoanalysis, and medication management for adults; taking into consideration the individual's stage of life. Dr. Badel supports efforts to provide education, eliminate the stigma of mental illness and treatment, promote healthy strategies, and increase the quality of mental health care.

  • Medical Work-up: it is extremely important to rule out underlying medical conditions that can mimic psychiatric symptoms. For example, hypothyroidism is a common cause of depression.

Dr. Bingman provides individual psychotherapy to adolescents and adults of all ages with a focus in Interpersonal and Psychodynamic modalities. Dr. Bingman has extensive experience in treating mood disorders, anxiety, adjustment disorders, relationships issues, transitions in life, substance use disorders, and personality disorders. In addition to psychotherapy Dr. Bingman provides neuropsychological, psycho-educational, and psychological assessments and recommendations for a variety of issues and conditions.

  • How do I make an appointment with Dr. Badel?

    You can use the "Contact Us" form to send an email to Dr. Badel. He will respond to you within 24 hours. You can also reach us directly at the office at 954 720.6511 or you can email him at sbadel@drbadel.com.


     I do not have a secretary. Please leave a voice message with your information and best time to reach you. 

  • How long do appointments last?

    Usually, 45 minutes unless we agree otherwise that it would be more useful to meet for a longer time. 


  • Does Dr. Badel take insurance?

    Dr. Badel does not accept insurance and is considered an Out-of-Network provider by insurance companies.


     Depending on the plan and deductible, reimbursement from your insurance company for assessment and treatment services may be available. Dr. Badel will assist you in the process of filing the paperwork with your insurer for any possible reimbursement. Please check with your insurer if you would like to verify out-of-network benefits or reimbursement rates.


     Dr. Badel will do his best to maximize his patient’s reimbursement by providing an invoice including all pertinent information and appropriate code(s).

  • Do you file for insurance, or do I?

    Dr. Badel can file the claims for you with your authorization. If the client prefers, Dr. Badel will provide them with an invoice or superbill at the end of the month with the information necessary to file a claim with the insurance company. 


     Dr. Badel will do his best to maximize his patient’s reimbursement by providing an invoice including all pertinent information and appropriate code(s).

  • What are your fees?

    Please call our office to discuss Dr. Badel's fees. 


    Also, before discussing fees it is best to determine if we are a good fit for treatment on the phone. 

  • Can I speak to Dr. Badel by phone if I don’t have an appointment?

    Calls to the doctor are generally returned in 24 hours.  Calls after 5pm may be returned the next day (non-emergencies).


     In addition appointments for phone consultations can be arranged.

  • What if I have an emergency?

    Emergencies usually require immediate attention and calling 911 is the best option in those cases. Particularly  if there is a life threatening emergency. 


    Dr. Badel tries to be available as much as possible for urgent matters. Calls are usually returned by the end of the day.

  • How will my confidentiality be protected?

    It is extremely important for Dr. Badel  to protect your privacy. He will not communicate with anyone about your treatment unless you have signed a release of information form. Additionally, he will not, without your written permission,  discuss whether or not you were a previous patient or are a current patient.  There are; however, some limits to confidentiality. They are included in the informed consent which needs to be signed prior to your first meeting with Dr. Badel.


    Additionally, Dr. Badel is a "mandated reporter." This means Dr. Badel must report child abuse and elder abuse to the appropriate authorities. Additionally, if he feels you are in danger of committing suicide or homicide,  he must also report it to the appropriate agencies so that your safety and the safety of others is maintained. 

  • What Is Tele-psychiatry?

    Telemedicine is the process of providing health care from a distance through technology, often using videoconferencing. Telepsychiatry, a subset of telemedicine, can involve providing a range of services including psychiatric evaluations, therapy (individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy), patient education and medication management.



  • How do I get started with Tele-psychiatry?

    A computer or a cell phone with an internet connection is all you need. It is preferable to use a computer when possible. 


    Using a private space where you will not be interrupted and can maintain your confidentiality is very important.

  • When I come to see Dr. Bingman for the first time what can I expect?

    For Therapy:  there will be an initial intake period, which could take more than one session. Afterward, Dr. Bingman will provide feedback as to the therapy and frequency of sessions recommended. 


    For Assessments: during the initial evaluation sessions, Dr. Bingman will conduct a thorough intake, gather a complete history and determine the type of service(s) needed. After the evaluation is completed, a date and time will be set up for the testing session(s) (as it might take longer than one session). Dr. Bingman accommodates individuals for all of the necessary time needed to obtain accurate results and to allow the individual to perform at his or her best.


  • How long do appointments last?

    This can vary depending on the type of assessment being conducted. For a basic psychological assessment it can take two or three hours, for an achievement, giftedness, or learning disorder assessment it can take longer; 4 or 5 hours. For a thorough Neuropsychological assessment, it can take 6 or more hours. Dr. Bingman can give you a better estimate of time during the intake session and can pinpoint the type of assessment(s) needed.

  • Is neuropsychological/psychological assessment covered by insurance?

     It depends. Some assessments can be partially covered by insurance. Many are not covered. Contact your insurance company or refer to your policy to determine if neuropsychological or psychological assessments are mostly/partially covered by your policy.

Our practice is conveniently located in the City of Tamarac (near Fort Lauderdale Parkland and Coral Springs). The office is on the west side of University Drive between South Gate road and McNab Road, convenient to all major highways. 
Our office is easily accesible from: Boca Raton, Parkland, Coral Springs, Pompano Beach, Weston, Greater Fort Lauderdale Area, Southwest Ranches,Davie, Plantation and Pembroke Pines as well as most of Broward County, West Palm Beach and Dade.
